
Ingredients
Your choice of store bought pasta
(1/2 packet easily feeds 4 people, or 2 people for two nights!!)
4-5 bacon rashers chopped
1 medium onion (can be changed to shallots)
1 cup sliced mushrooms
2 tsp minced garlic (less if you don't like that much garlic!)
1 small tub cream
1 tbsp butter
Black pepper
1 egg
1/2 cup shredded tasty cheese
1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Preparation
Step One
Boil water in a medium to large pot ready to add pasta, once boiling add pasta. Start next steps when the pasta has gone into the boiling water. When it is cooked, strain and set aside.
Step Two
Add butter to a large frying pan on high heat, add bacon and onion. Cook until onion is translucent. Add mushrooms and garlic. Add black pepper to taste.
Step Three
Once mushrooms have cooked, turn heat down to low. Add cream and mix through. Add tasty and parmesan cheese and stir through. Crack the egg into the pan and then quickly continue to stir so the egg doesn't cook in lumps, stir until you can see the sauce is thickening (happens very quickly).
Step Four
Add the strained pasta to the frying pan and mix through the creamy carbonara sauce.
We serve in bowls and have some garlic bread cooked in the air fryer with it!
