Apple Roll Ups

Ingredients

To make 10-12 serves you will need:

small tin apple pie filling

1/3 cup cinnamon sugar

2 tsp lemon juice

1tsp cinnamon

10-12 toast bread slices

cream cheese, have at room temperature

1 tbsp butter

2 eggs

3 tbsp or 45ml milk

Preparation

Step One

Empty can of pie apples into a small mixing bowl, if the apples are quite chunky, try to cut them smaller. Add 2 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp cinnamon and mix well. Set aside


Step Two

Get 10-12 slices of bread (toast slices work better), cut the crusts off all the slices. Use a rolling pin and flatten the slices flat.


Step Three

With a butter knife spread the cream cheese over the slices of bread evenly.


Step Four

Spread a layer along the edge of each bread slice of the apple mixture and roll up.


Step Five

In large container crack two eggs and add 3 tbsp milk, creating an egg wash, whisk together.


Step Six

In a container add 1/3 cup cinnamon sugar, set aside.


Step Seven

Put a frying pan on medium heat and add 1 tbsp butter, while butter is melting, start rolling each apple roll in the egg wash and add to the frying pan with the seam of the bread facing down first. Turn a quarter turn each time when the bread starts to brown. When all the sides are browned, take out of the frying pan.


Step Eight

Roll each cooked apple roll in the cinnamon sugar and serve with golden syrup, (it would also be nice with a scoop of icecream!!)
